About 43 million Americans suffer from arthritis. Osteoarthritis of the knee may cause symptoms such as pain, stiffness or swelling of the joints. Symptoms can often interfere with daily activities, but can often be managed with medication, rest, physical therapy and exercise.
The Rheumatology Department at Rockford Health Physicians is currently looking for participants in a clinical research study to evaluate an investigational medication for the treatment of osteoarthritis in the knee joint that may be safer for the patient’s stomach.
Participation in clinical trials offers potential benefits:
· Gain access to potentially new research treatments.
· Help others by contributing to medical research and treatment advances.
· Receive expert medical care for the condition being studied since
investigators are often specialists in the disease area being studied.
Persons over age 50 interested in participating in this study should contact the site at
815-971-2441 to learn if they qualify.
Participation in this study requires five visits over approximately 12 weeks. All study related visits, examinations, lab tests, as well as the investigational medication are provided to the study participant free of charge and patients are often financially compensated for their time and travel.
Rheumatologist Frederick Dietz, M.D., is available for morning show interviews, as well as interviews for stories.
