Van Matre HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital has submitted a letter of intent to the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board, notifying them of plans for expansion. This is the first step in the process of obtaining state approval to add beds. The second step, submitting the Certificate of Need application, will be completed in November or December.
Through new construction, the proposed project will increase patient capacity by 10 beds, allowing VMHS to accommodate a total of 50 patients. At the same time, all of the patient rooms will be converted to private rooms. This proposed expansion will also allow VMHS to increase the size of their assisted dining room, as well as, modernize space for several support services. The new space should be ready for occupancy the first part of 2009.
We are very excited about the improved services this proposed expansion will allow us to provide to Rockford and the surrounding area. This project comes as a direct result of feedback received from the local medical community demonstrating an increased need for the higher level of rehabilitative care provided by Van Matre HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital.
We are extremely proud of our rehabilitation hospital, which has been consistently ranked among the best HealthSouth hospitals in the nation, both for patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes. Please join us in spreading the word about the “superior care” being provided at Van Matre.
