Van Matre HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital (VMHS) has earned honors once again for being ranked second in clinical quality out of 93 HealthSouth rehabilitation hospitals nationwide. This is the 3rd quarter in a row; VMHS has ranked in the top 5 HealthSouth rehabilitation hospitals.
Each quarter, HealthSouth looks at all its inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and judges them on several performance measures. Below is an overview of how Van Matre performed for the 1st quarter of 2007.

Average length of stay per patient was 14 days.

Patient’s functional improvement scores increased by 38 points from admission to discharge.

Patients made better functional improvements at VMHS when compared to regional and national norm data inclusive of both HealthSouth and other rehabilitation hospitals.

92 percent of all VMHS patients (not including those who were transferred to an acute care hospital) were able to go home at discharge.

Patient satisfaction scores exceeded both national and regional benchmarks.
