Behavioral Medicine
The Rockford
Memorial Hospital Behavioral Medicine
Unit provides a high quality inpatient
mental health program, which is a short
stay program. We treat adults age 18 and
older who have a severe mental/emotional
problem which interferes with their
daily life or who may do imminent harm
to themselves or others.
One in five adults
age 18 and older, or more than 44
million people, suffer from a
diagnosable mental disorder in any given
year. Mental Disorders are four of the
top 10 leading causes of disability in
the
United States.
The Behavioral
Medicine Unit staff treats adults with a
range of mental illness disorders
including: Major Depression,
Bipolar Illness, Schizophrenia and
severe anxiety . Our structured program
provides education, symptom management,
coping skills, discharge planning and
community resources.
The Behavioral
Medicine Unit has a multidisciplinary
staff made up of psychiatrists, medical
doctors, social workers, recreation
therapist and specialized nursing care
staff who are committed to compassionate
and respectful care while assisting
patients with an active treatment plan
that will aid their recovery.
Families are
encouraged to be part of the recovery
process by attending weekly family group
that provides information on mental
illness, recovery, relapse prevention
and how to support a loved one who is
struggling with mental illness.
